Medrar Opens Call for Early-Career Artists in Cairo
Applications are open for a six-month programme supporting early-career artists with workshops, studio practice and exhibition opportunities.
Medrar for Contemporary Art, a Cairo-based non-profit that supports the arts, has opened the call for Roznama 10, a six-month program designed for early-career artists, researchers, and cultural practitioners.
Titled 'Staying with the Crisis', this year’s edition asks what it means to sustain artistic practice in times when art is often treated as secondary or non-essential. Rather than framing a crisis as something to merely respond to, the program invites participants to consider how it reshapes the conditions, rhythms and demands of making.
Running from June 2026, the programme brings participants into a process shaped by studio work, workshops, reading sessions, and collective critique, culminating in a group exhibition alongside prizes that include cash awards, residencies, and other forms of support.
Open to practitioners with roughly two to 10 years of experience, the application requires a short bio, CV, portfolio, and project proposal. An online Q&A about the Open Call will be held on April 30th, 2026, while the applications will close on May 15th.
First launched in 2018, Roznama 10 was developed by Medrar as an intensive, long-term program supporting contemporary emerging Egyptian artists and help create more sustainable artistic production with the local context.
