French Institute is Offering a Photography Residency in Marseille

Photographers in Egypt can now hone their craft in the south of France in the spring of 2026 through a residency program with the French Institute of Egypt.

The program, a three-month residency where artists will be in Marseille at La Friche la Belle de Mai between April 13th and July 11th, 2026, is now open for applications until February 10th, 2026.

Artists selected for the residency will be mentored by Ymane Fakhir, a Moroccan-born visual artist whose work through photography and video explores her personal history and cultural background.

To be eligible for the program, applicants must be of Egyptian nationality or work and reside in Egypt, have completed their academic training and/or be able to demonstrate a minimum of three years of professional experience in the artistic field, have already developed one or more creative projects.

They also need speak French or English, and have a valid passport that won’t expire until at least three months after the end of the residency period.
