Egyptian Filmmaker Ahmed Abdalla Hosts Masterclass in Berlin
The masterclass is a part of the 15th edition of the Arab Film Festival in Berlin.
Egyptian filmmaker Ahmad Abdalla is holding a masterclass on Egyptian New Wave Cinema on Monday, April 27th 2024 as part of the 15th Arab Film Festival in Berlin.
Ahmad Abdalla is an Egyptian film director, editor and screenwriter known for films like ‘Microphone’ (2010), ‘Decor’ (2014) and most recently ‘19B’ (2023). He is one of the most prominent voices among a new generation of Egyptian filmmakers who are developing unique styles of aesthetics, narratives and storytelling techniques. His films have achieved commercial success and captured the attention of international festivals and renowned film critics.
His masterclass will provide insights into his mission to capture contemporary Egypt on screen, and the challenges of navigating through censorship, political crises, and the structural limitations of production and distribution.
The masterclass is part of ALFILM15, the 15th edition of the Arab Film Festival of Berlin, which is running from April 24th to the 30th. The program for this year’s edition features performances, film screenings, a panel discussion and master classes.
