AlUla’s Hegra After Dark Wins Award for Best Arts & Culture Event
An immersive experience set in the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Hegra wins top arts and culture honours at the 2025 Middle East Event Awards.

Hegra After Dark, an award-winning nighttime event set amongst the Nabataean tombs of Hegra, has been named Best Arts and Culture Event at the 2025 Middle East Event Awards. The production uses the archaeological landscape of AlUla as a live stage, weaving together incense trails, site-specific performances, and guided storytelling.
Launched in 2021, the experience features horse-drawn carriage rides, a theatrical marketplace, and walkable paths through monumental tombs carved into sandstone cliffs. The next edition is set to run from November 26th 2025 through February 14th 2026, coinciding with the return of the Ancient Kingdoms Festival.
Hegra, Saudi Arabia’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site, was a key Nabataean stop along the Incense Road, and later became a Roman outpost. It is one of several ancient locations in AlUla, alongside Dadan, Jabal Ikmah, and AlUla Old Town - each known for inscriptions, ruins, and layered civilisational history.
Produced in collaboration with ImaginExperience, Hegra After Dark is part of a growing lineup of programmes designed to immerse visitors in AlUla’s heritage through performance and place.
