Egyptian Fashion Label Rigash Launches Its First Eveningwear Line

Egyptian fashion brand Rigash has just launched its very own eveningwear line named Rigash Studio. The collection features sequin gowns, feathered sleeves, backless dresses and a generous helping of volume. For a brand already rather fond of unconventional silhouettes, an eveningwear line feels long overdue.

Founded in 2020 by Lamia Rady, the brand has become known for its unique silhouettes, corsets and modern tailoring. But Rady’s history with eveningwear predates the label by a few years. “The idea has always been quite personal to me,” Rady tells SceneStyled. “I started designing dresses for myself and my friends when I was around 13, and over the years, I continued designing my own outfits for special occasions, from prom to my wedding ceremony.”

Almost six years since the start of Rigash, Rady is now giving her passion a proper place in the brand. “I wanted to create a more defined identity for occasionwear that allows us to explore evening dressing more freely without moving away from the design philosophy of Rigash.”

Rigash's affection for unconventional silhouettes has already found some famous admirers. Ariana Grande has worn one of its asymmetric corsets, Selena Gomez has stepped out in a pleated leather skirt, and Shenseea has taken a silver vinyl bralette onstage at Rolling Loud.

Now with Studio, Rady gets a chance to take things a little further. “We have more room to experiment with statement proportions, embellishments, textures and construction techniques,” she says.

The selection includes the black sequin dress that features a plunging neckline and a bare back; the pink beaded dress with tattered bows; the blue sequined suit; and the balloon skirt and feather sleeve dresses. “The pink dress was especially challenging because it brings together two different sequin fabrics alongside three different chiffon and taffeta fabrics.”

Rady has also kept the sleek lines and unconventional silhouettes that are the trademark of Rigash. “I wanted to preserve the effortless, cool and contemporary aesthetic that has always been central to Rigash,” she explains. “Unexpected proportions, clean lines, minimalism and distinctive silhouettes remain important elements of the design language.”

From shorter, playful dresses to full-length sculptural gowns, the collection has something for just about every dressing-up mood. "Some of them are more sculptural, others are soft and playful," says Rady. “I wanted each design to have its own personality while belonging to the same visual world.”

With Rigash Studio, Rady wants to propose an alternative within Egypt's eveningwear market for women looking for distinctive designs without going down the traditional couture route. For her, it was all about tackling an opening for a different kind of approach to eveningwear in Egypt, especially regarding accessibility.

Dropping on November 7th, the debut collection will be available in a limited ready-to-wear capsule with standard sizing and no restocks.
