Rap of the Week | May 12 - May 18

On this edition of Rap of the Week, we’re highlighting some fresh faces from across the region’s hip-hop scene alongside a slew of heavyweights, with picks from Abyusif, Shamaly and LMehdi.

Palestinian rapper Shamaly comes through with an introspective trap tune ‘2essa 7azinna’, from his latest EP SOLO, while Moroccan rapper Furelise delivers an aggressive, diss trap cut, ‘SKUUMA’ - which seemingly appears to take aim at ElGrandeToto.

In Egypt, Abyusif continues his run of surprise drops with a new single, ‘DO’, a sharp, experimental cut built on tightly executed production. Meanwhile, Afroto re-emerges with ‘Trip’, unveiling a refreshed audiovisual identity following several months of social media silence.
