Nour Chehab Weaves Melancholy Into Guitar-Driven Single ‘Jaloux'
The Lebanese singer-songwriter blends kinetic drum grooves with wistful melodies and layered guitar work on her latest single.
Beirut-based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Nour Chehab steps into her solo spotlight with her debut single, ‘Jaloux’.
Chehab has built a following on Instagram through Oud covers of contemporary pop songs. On ‘Jaloux’, however, she switches to guitar, an instrument she has played since the age of seven. The track draws on that longstanding connection, pairing her acoustic guitar work with locked-in drum grooves and bright melodies that give the song an easy, upbeat bounce, while a thread of wistfulness runs beneath its breezy surface.
Driven by a live drum kit and delicate electric textures, the production sets up a lively call-and-response between crisp guitar licks and Chehab’s soulful French vocals. Luminous harmonies soften the track’s quick tempo, giving it a dreamy, sweeping quality without losing its danceable pulse.
‘Jaloux’ ultimately finds its balance in the space between pop sensibilities and Chehab’s musicianship, using a rhythmic, guitar-led arrangement to introduce an artist whose sound feels both carefully crafted and instinctive.
