Jool & Jorg Debut New Alias With EP 'Controlled Disorder' via Desimana

Lebanese DJs and producers Jool and Jorg have officially joined forces under a new alias, Unexpected Context. Marking the inaugural release for the newly minted imprint Desimana, their debut 12-inch vinyl, Controlled Disorder EP, brings together elements of house, techno, electro, and broken-beat rhythms without adhering strictly to a single genre.

Jool, the alias of Julian Naman, has long built a reputation across Lebanon’s dancefloors with a signature sound that blends techno and house grooves with organic percussive elements drawn from jazz, ambient, and progressive rock. Meanwhile, Jorg is known for an eclectic sound imbued with rare gems uncovered through decades of digging across house, breakbeat, and techno since the 1990s.

The EP opens on the A-side with 'Silent Chaos', featuring vocals from lyricist Kira. The track pairs atmospheric vocal elements with electro-inspired percussion and shifting rhythmic patterns, creating a steady, subtle tension. It is followed by 'Explooosive', which shifts toward a more direct peak-time framework through punchy drum programming, dense low-end frequencies, and sharp synth lines.

The B-side is dedicated entirely to 'Non Common House', a track that reinterprets traditional house arrangements by incorporating stripped-back minimal house grooves, syncopated rhythms, and detailed spatial sound design.

Overall, Controlled Disorder functions as a multi-purpose tool for extended DJ sets, balancing functional club tracks with varied textural arrangements. By avoiding standard formulaic builds and emphasising rhythmically flexible structures, Unexpected Context establishes a solid foundation for Jorg and Jool’s joint venture, one that poignantly reflects their established presence within Beirut’s electronic music scene.
