Traffic Diversions Begin for Al Taawun Tunnel Project in Sharjah

Traffic diversions will come into effect on June 13th as construction begins on a major tunnel project at Al Taawun roundabout in Sharjah, one of the busiest links for commuters travelling to and from Dubai.
Motorists will be redirected via Al Corniche Street while work is carried out. No completion date for the project has yet been announced. Al Taawun roundabout is a key junction connecting the two emirates and is known for heavy congestion, particularly along the stretch from Al Nahda Bridge to the roundabout during peak hours.
According to the Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority, the project is intended to improve traffic flow and enhance the efficiency of the emirate's road network. Drivers have been advised to follow approved diversion routes and traffic safety instructions while the works are underway.
The changes are expected to affect daily journeys that rely on Al Taawun roundabout as a primary route between Sharjah and Dubai. Additional traffic diversions are also scheduled to begin on June 13th to accommodate roadworks at the nearby Al Khulafa–Al Rashideen junction.
