Sharjah Maritime Academy Launches AI Admissions Assistant
The new AI assistant helps prospective students explore programmes, admissions requirements and registration around the clock.
Sharjah Maritime Academy, a higher education institution specialising in maritime education and training, has launched Majid, an agentic AI voice and chat assistant designed to support prospective students and parents throughout the admissions and registration process.
Available 24 hours a day, the assistant provides information on academic programmes, admission requirements, application procedures and maritime career pathways. Users can also access the academy's online application portal, receive answers to admissions enquiries and connect with Admissions Advisors when personalised support is required.
According to the academy, Majid uses conversational AI to understand user intent, provide tailored guidance and assist prospective students in making informed decisions during the application process. The launch forms part of Sharjah Maritime Academy's Artificial Intelligence Strategy, which focuses on the ethical, transparent and responsible adoption of AI technologies.
The academy said it is among the early higher education institutions in the UAE to introduce agentic AI for admissions services. The launch also marks the first phase of a broader AI strategy, with additional applications planned across teaching, learning and student engagement.
