Saudi Water Authority to Establish Seven Water Manufacturing Plants

Seven new manufacturing plants for strategic water industry components and technologies are set to be established under agreements being signed at a Saudi Water Authority ceremony in Riyadh.

The ‘Localizing the Water Industry: Knowledge Transfer and Capacity Building’ event will bring together government entities and local and international companies, with ministers, ambassadors, senior officials and chief executives expected to attend.

Together with an existing facility, the seven projects will bring the number of major national manufacturing facilities in the programme to eight.

The projects form part of a wider effort to reduce reliance on imported water-sector components by building domestic manufacturing and technological capabilities.

The Saudi Water Authority’s localisation programme includes 18 opportunities focused on priority industries and services across the water sector.

Domestic demand for these industries is expected to exceed SAR 15 billion over the next five years, while the wider Middle East and North Africa market is estimated at around SAR 65 billion.
