Saudi Arabia Suspends Travel to 3 African Countries Over Ebola
Additional restrictions include a 21-day travel lookback for visitors arriving via third countries.
Saudi Arabia has suspended travel by its citizens to the Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda and South Sudan following the Ebola outbreak, while also pausing visas and entry for travellers arriving from the three countries.
The measures also apply to passengers travelling through third countries. Anyone who has been in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda or South Sudan during the 21 days before arriving in Saudi Arabia will be subject to the same entry suspension.
The restrictions were introduced as additional precautionary measures aimed at reducing the risk of Ebola entering the Kingdom.
The Saudi Public Health Authority (Weqaya) said health monitoring and response systems remain active in coordination with national and international partners.
Authorities have also strengthened health checks for travellers arriving from neighbouring countries, including Rwanda, Burundi, Tanzania and the Republic of Congo (Brazzaville), through enhanced screening at ports of entry, expanded health monitoring and early response measures.
According to Weqaya, Saudi Arabia has not recorded any confirmed or suspected Ebola cases since the precautionary measures were introduced, and the public health situation in the Kingdom remains stable and under close observation.
