Riyadh's Road Expansion Enters New Phase With SAR 9.8 Billion Projects
The projects include 33 bridges, five tunnels and capacity for up to 950,000 vehicles per day.
Construction has begun on the fourth phase of Riyadh's Main and Ring Road Axes Programme, comprising four road projects spanning a combined 40 kilometres with a total value of SAR 9.8 billion.
Once completed, the projects are expected to accommodate up to 950,000 vehicles per day as part of efforts to strengthen the capital's road network.
The fourth phase includes works on Sheikh Jaber Road, Prince Mishal bin Abdulaziz Road, Prince Turki bin Abdulaziz I Road and Najm Ad-Din Al-Ayyubi Road.
The 12-kilometre Sheikh Jaber Road project stretches from Thumamah Road to Khurais Road, while the 13-kilometre Najm Ad-Din Al-Ayyubi Road project extends between Jeddah Road and Hamza bin Abdul Muttalib Street.
Prince Mishal bin Abdulaziz Road will cover six kilometres between Wadi Hanifa Bridge and the Western Ring Road. Meanwhile, the nine-kilometre Prince Turki bin Abdulaziz I Road project runs from Makkah Al-Mukarramah Road through Al-Rafiah neighbourhood and Wadi Hanifa before reaching Al-Arijah.
Across the four projects, construction includes 14 major intersections, 33 bridges, six pedestrian bridges and five tunnels. The completed road network will feature 14 main traffic lanes alongside nine secondary lanes.
