Rare White Falcon Sells for Record AED 2.1 Million in Abu Dhabi

A rare white falcon has sold for AED 2.1 million, approximately USD 571,000, at an Abu Dhabi auction, setting what organisers said is the highest price ever paid for a falcon at auction.

The Gyr Pure Ultra White, which originated from the United States, was sold on Sunday during the final falcon auction of the Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition 2026 at ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi.

The sale surpassed the previous auction record for a pure mottled Gyrfalcon, which fetched USD 467,000 at the International Falcon Breeders Auction in Riyadh in 2021.

The record-breaking bird belongs to a type prized for its rare white plumage and pure lineage. This year’s ADIHEX programme has already seen several other high-value sales, including a Qarmousha Pure Ultra White that sold for AED 1.5 million on August 29th and a Gyr Pure Ultra White chick that fetched AED 1.1 million the following day.

Falcon auctions have been one of the major draws of this year’s exhibition, bringing together local and international breeders offering birds selected for bloodlines, physical characteristics and performance.

The 2026 programme includes eight live auctions held before and during the exhibition, alongside an online auction for international bidders. A total of 55 local and international falcon breeding and care farms are participating this year, up from 46 in 2025.
