Public Bus Journeys Top 30.6 Million Across Saudi Cities in Q1 2026
Riyadh led usage, followed by Makkah and Madinah, while intercity services carried over 936,000 passengers.
Public bus networks across Saudi Arabia recorded more than 30.6 million passenger journeys in the first quarter of 2026, reflecting continued usage of urban transport systems across cities and governorates.
Data from the Transport General Authority showed that Riyadh accounted for the largest share, with more than 19.55 million passengers during the period.
Makkah ranked second with 4.87 million riders, followed by Madinah at 3.4 million and Jeddah with 1.25 million.
In the Eastern Province, Dammam and Qatif together recorded around 840,000 passengers. Other cities also reported steady usage levels, including Qassim with 259,000 passengers, Taif with 180,000, Al-Ahsa with 134,000, Jazan with 118,000 and Tabuk with 52,000.
Intercity transport also showed growth, with more than 936,000 passengers travelling between cities during the same period. Authorities said over 43,000 intercity bus trips were operated nationwide in the first quarter.
