Over 41,000 Illegal Encroachments Removed in Nationwide Campaign

More than 41,000 illegal encroachments on state-owned land, agricultural land and unauthorised buildings were removed during Egypt's 29th nationwide enforcement campaign, which ran from May 2nd to July 17th, according to the Ministry of Local Development and Environment.

The campaign was carried out in coordination with governorates, state authorities and security agencies to protect public property, preserve agricultural land and curb illegal construction.

Authorities removed 19,325 targeted violations across the campaign's three phases, including 7,093 encroachments on state-owned land, 8,480 illegal spatial changes and 3,742 illegally constructed buildings on privately owned agricultural land. The ministry also said 1,692 cases were regularised through land contracts, compensation payments or legalisation procedures under Law No. 168 of 2025.

An additional 22,640 violations identified through monitoring systems were also addressed during the operation, including encroachments on state-owned land, unauthorised buildings and illegal construction on agricultural land.

According to the ministry, all operations were monitored in real time through the National Emergency and Public Safety Network's control centre and a digital platform tracking demolition activities nationwide. Minister of Local Development and Environment Manal Awad said enforcement efforts will continue in coordination with governorates and relevant authorities, adding that protecting state-owned and agricultural land remains a government priority.
