Over 1,195 Organ Transplants Carried Out Under UAE’s Hayat Programme

More than 1,195 organ transplants have been carried out under the UAE’s national organ donation programme, while over 39,000 residents have registered as donors, according to Minister of Health and Prevention Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh.

The figures were shared to mark World Organ Donation Day, with Al Sayegh saying they reflect growing public awareness and confidence in the country’s organ donation and transplantation system.

According to the minister, the UAE now ranks first in the Gulf for growth in donor numbers and organ transplant procedures, while Hayat has become one of the fastest-growing programmes of its kind globally.

Registrations have continued to rise alongside the expansion of transplant services and wider public awareness efforts. Al Sayegh urged more residents to register as donors, saying a larger donor pool would strengthen the transplant system and improve the chances of patients receiving suitable organs.

He also linked the programme’s expansion to national quality-of-life priorities under the ‘We the UAE 2031’ vision, as well as the Year of the Family, highlighting the wider impact of successful transplants on patients, families and communities.
