Nominations Open for the 2028 King Faisal Prize
Eligible institutions can submit nominations across five categories, with the window open until March 31st, 2027.
Nominations are now open for the 2028 King Faisal Prize across five categories: Service to Islam, Islamic Studies, Arabic Language and Literature, Medicine, and Science.
Eligible academic and scientific institutions, along with research centres, can submit nominations for individuals or entities until March 31st, 2027. The nomination window opened on September 1st, 2026.
Four of the five categories have defined themes for the 2028 edition. Islamic Studies will focus on ‘The Islamic Heritage in al-Andalus’, while Arabic Language and Literature will examine ‘Arabic Literature from the Perspective of Comparative Studies’.
The Medicine category will centre on RNA-based therapeutics, while the Science prize will focus on biology.
The Service to Islam prize remains an honorary award recognising work that has served Islam, Muslims and humanity.
The prize enters its 50th year with the 2028 edition.
Nominations can be submitted by post, email or through the official King Faisal Prize nomination portal.
