New AI System Now Deploys Dubai Buses in Under a Minute

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority has rolled out an AI-powered system that will cut bus deployment time to under a minute, a huge leap from the previous 30 to 60 minute window. The new "Decision Support System" keeps tabs on more than 1,100 buses and handles 26 different operational scenarios, using machine learning and optimisation algorithms to pick the right bus and send it out straight away.

The idea is to make sure buses respond in step with what's happening across the rest of Dubai's public transport network, including the Metro and Tram, so passengers see fewer gaps and delays when other services shift.

The development is the latest in a run of AI-upgrades from RTA, following similar tools already introduced for marine transport demand forecasting and round-the-clock smart monitoring.
