Jeddah Airport's Terminal 1 Earns LEED Gold Certification

Terminal 1 at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah has been awarded Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold Certification by the United States Green Building Council, becoming the largest single building in Saudi Arabia to receive the certification.

Spanning 810,000 square metres, the terminal earned the internationally recognised sustainability rating for applying environmental standards across its design and operations, according to the Saudi Press Agency.

LEED is the world's most widely used green building rating system, assessing buildings on criteria including energy efficiency, water conservation, indoor environmental quality and responsible resource management. The framework is intended to reduce environmental impacts while improving operational efficiency.
