Cabinet Announces Inspection to Combat Street Billboard Violations

Egypt’s National Authority for Regulating Advertising on Public Roads began inspections of roadside advertising structures, warning that companies that fail to maintain them or comply with safety standards will face legal action.

Official letters were sent to relevant administrative bodies instructing them to regularly inspect licensed advertising companies and ensure that necessary maintenance is carried out.

“Maintaining advertising structures is the responsibility of licensed companies and advertising agencies,” said authority CEO Eman Nabil in a statement. “Traffic safety and the protection of citizens are among the authority’s highest priorities.”

The authority directed strict compliance with regulatory guidelines, including requirements on maintenance, spacing, and setback distances, and instructed administrative bodies not to license advertisements or digital screens within road boundaries if they violate these requirements.

Administrative bodies were also told to report the results of field inspections, identify any damaged advertising structures, and detail the measures taken to address them.
