Art Street's New Venting Box Lets You Leave Your Secrets & Walk Away
Art Street offers an anonymous box where written confessions go to a mental health expert who responds to every single one, offering relief from the burden of emotional suppression.
A box sits at the centre of Art Street with a simple instruction: write down whatever is weighing on you, drop it in, and walk away.
The initiative, called 'The Venting Box', was launched during the second week of the street's programming by the Academy of Arts, under Dr. Nabila Hassan, in collaboration with mental health expert Dr. Rasha Al-Jundi.
Dr. Al-Jundi personally reads every submission and provides individual responses and guidance, working from the premise that removing any requirement for identification lowers the barrier for people who might otherwise hesitate.
The approach draws on an established line of psychological research suggesting that emotional suppression actively works against mental well-being, and that articulating what is difficult, even privately on paper, can reduce psychological pressure and restore a person's internal balance.
The initiative sits within Art Street's stated philosophy of "psychology of creativity," a framework that treats artistic spaces as environments where emotional life and creative output are directly connected. The street runs Thursday to Saturday, 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
