50 AI Traffic Monitoring Stations to Be Installed Across UAE Roads
The smart monitoring systems will collect real-time traffic and road safety data across federal highways.
Fifty artificial intelligence-supported traffic monitoring stations are being deployed across federal roads in the United Arab Emirates as part of a wider smart traffic infrastructure programme focused on road safety and traffic management.
According to a report issued by the Federal National Council Committee on Constitutional Legislative and Appeals Affairs, the rollout forms part of a broader package of traffic initiatives that also includes expanded camera systems and control room infrastructure across the country. The AI-powered monitoring stations are designed to provide real-time information on road conditions, traffic density, vehicle categories, average speeds, and peak-hour movement patterns across the federal road network.
Officials stated that the collected data will support technical and statistical studies used to identify traffic blackspots and accident-prone areas while informing decisions on the placement of monitoring systems and infrastructure upgrades. The system will also support enforcement of axle-weight regulations and facilitate data-sharing between federal and local authorities.
Alongside the monitoring stations, preparations are underway for a unified traffic platform intended to integrate information from smart monitoring systems, intelligent gateways, and eventually open-source traffic data and systems operated by municipalities, road authorities, and traffic departments.
