Red Sea Film Foundation Extends 48-Hour Film Challenge Applications

The Red Sea Film Foundation has extended applications for the sixth edition of its 48-Hour Film Challenge until July 4th, 2026, giving more young Saudi citizens and residents the opportunity to take part.

The programme is open to emerging filmmakers aged between 18 and 25, who will form creative teams and produce a short film within 48 hours after participating in specialised mentorship workshops.

Organised in partnership with the Red Sea International Film Festival, the French Consulate General in Jeddah and Alliance Française, the challenge aims to support young talent and provide participants with hands-on filmmaking experience.

Two teams will be selected as winners. Team leaders behind the winning projects will receive artistic residencies in France in 2027, while the completed films will be screened during the next edition of the Red Sea International Film Festival.

Applications for the challenge can be submitted through the festival's website.
