Filmlab Palestine to Show Abu Bakr Shawky's 'The Stories' in Ramallah
The historical drama will be screened at the Mahmoud Darwish Museum in Ramallah on July 27th.
Filmlab Palestine, a non-profit organisation supporting Palestinian filmmakers and film culture, will screen Abu Bakr Shawky's latest feature, 'The Stories', at the Mahmoud Darwish Museum in Ramallah on July 27th at 8 PM (GMT+3).
A historical drama and family saga, 'The Stories' follows aspiring Egyptian pianist Ahmed and his Austrian pen pal Liz as they navigate love, family expectations and political upheaval between 1967 and the late 1980s. Structured as an anthology, the film unfolds across different stages of their lives, with its story inspired by Shawky's parents and how they met.
The cast includes Nelly Karim, Amir El Masry and Valerie Pachner.
The film had its world premiere in the Official Competition of the 29th Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival (PÖFF) in November 2025, before opening in Egyptian cinemas on June 17th, 2026.
The Ramallah screening forms part of Filmlab Palestine's ongoing programme of film screenings and cultural events aimed at bringing regional and international cinema to Palestinian audiences.
