The Ministry of Education announced that high-school graduates will soon receive an international programming certificate issued by Hiroshima University in Japan, marking a significant shift in how digital skills are integrated into secondary education. The certificate will be granted to all students upon completing their studies, as programming becomes a foundational requirement in the updated curriculum.
Minister of Education and Technical Education Mohamed Abdel-Latif stated that no student will graduate without demonstrating essential programming abilities, reflecting the ministry’s commitment to embedding digital literacy across all academic streams. The partnership with Hiroshima University is part of the ministry’s wider effort to standardise global-skills training for Egyptian students.
As part of the rollout, the ministry will expand its digital learning platform 'Kiryo', which will offer training in programming and artificial intelligence through structured modules. The initiative comes alongside plans to introduce programming and AI courses within technical-education tracks beginning next academic year.
