Saudi OpenSource 2025 Hackathon Opens Applications in Riyadh
The hackathon is open to students from Saudi public and private universities across technical disciplines. Two tracks focus on open-source alternatives and upgrades to existing government products.

Applications are open for the Saudi OpenSource 2025 hackathon in Riyadh, launched by the Digital Technical College for Girls under the slogan “One programmer for every 100 Saudis — Towards an Innovative Digital Future.” The event is being run in collaboration with the Digital Transformation Department at the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation and the Digital Government Authority.
The hackathon offers two tracks for participation. The first focuses on developing alternative open-source products. The second centres on the development of existing government products. Each track presents several challenges. Teams select one challenge to address and deliver a specialised solution that contributes to government digital transformation priorities.
The hackathon is open to students from Saudi public and private universities across technical disciplines. It also welcomes trainees from technical and vocational training institutes and colleges throughout the Kingdom. Organisers said this broad intake is designed to ensure a diversity of ideas and proposed solutions across the competition’s challenges.
