Red Bull Flugtag Will See Homemade Planes Fly Into the Sea at El Gouna
El Gouna will become a stage for Red Bull Flugtag as teams of five test home-made flying machines built under strict rules. Get ready to watch flying cartoons.

Red Bull Flugtag will fly over El Gouna on October 10th, with teams from across Egypt constructing human-powered flying machines for a chance to soar, and ultimately splash, in front of thousands of spectators. The event challenges competitors to leap from a seven-metre high platform into the Red Sea using only their handmade vehicles.
The rules keep things both strict and with room for innovation. No engines or motors are allowed, and all machines must stay within set size and weight limits. Safety gear is mandatory, and every pilot must be able to swim as crashes are more likely than graceful flights. Judges will score teams on distance, creativity, and showmanship.
While few machines are expected to fly far, the spectacle lies in the each team's often colourful, and always creative, take on their plane. From oversized skateboards to cartoon cows, past entries reflected imagination under pressure. Whether they glide for metres or nosedive instantly, the spirit of the day is in the attempt.
