One-Point UAE–Bahrain Travel System Introduces Departure Preclearance
The pilot program at at Abu Dhabi and Bahrain airports removes arrival security checks.
A joint one-point travel system between the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain will introduce departure preclearance for passengers, removing the need for security checks on arrival when travelling between the two countries.
The pilot will launch at Zayed International Airport in Abu Dhabi and Bahrain International Airport. Under the model, procedures will be completed before boarding, allowing passengers to proceed directly on arrival without undergoing additional security screening at their destination.
In the United Arab Emirates, implementation is being led by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security, while in Bahrain it is overseen by the Ministry of Interior in co-operation with the General Secretariat of the Gulf Co-operation Council.
The one-point model aligns with broader regional efforts to enhance travel facilitation. Last year, a pilot launch of a Unified Gulf Co-operation Council Tourist Visa was announced on World Tourism Day. The programme, often described as a Schengen-style visa and referred to as the GCC Grand Tours Visa, would allow non-Gulf nationals to visit any of the six Gulf countries under a single visa framework.
