New Darb Toll Gates Installed on Dubai–Abu Dhabi Highways
Gates at Ghantoot and Al Qurm are in testing with AED 4 peak charges and no daily or monthly caps.
New Darb toll gate structures have been installed on highways connecting Dubai and Abu Dhabi, with sites now in place at Ghantoot in the Seih Shuaib area along the E11 and in both directions at Al Qurm. The gates are not yet operational and are currently undergoing testing, with full details on activation and usage to be announced through the Abu Dhabi Mobility platform.
The installation has been carried out by the Department of Transport under Abu Dhabi Municipality, operating as Abu Dhabi Mobility, as part of efforts to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion on key inter-emirate routes.
Two gates have been installed along the E11 corridor: one northbound toward Dubai before Exit 403, and another southbound toward Abu Dhabi just after the Ghantoot border crossing. Additional gates at Al Qurm have been set up in both directions. The new structures, labelled “Ghantoot Darb Toll Gate” and “Al Qurm Darb Toll Gate,” are positioned directly on highways rather than bridges, indicating an expansion of the tolling system beyond Abu Dhabi Island’s traditional entry points.
Under the Darb system, motorists are charged AED 4 per crossing during peak hours from Monday to Saturday, with recent updates removing daily and monthly caps. A AED 50 violation applies if account balances are insufficient after the grace period, with vehicle registration required through the TAMM platform.
