Formula One has cancelled the upcoming Grands Prix in Saudi Arabia and Bahrain due to escalating regional conflict and security concerns.
The races, the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix and the Bahrain Grand Prix, were scheduled to take place in April but were jointly called off by Formula 1 and its governing body, the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile, citing the safety of drivers, teams and staff as the top priority.
“Due to the ongoing situation in the Middle East region, the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian Grands Prix will not take place in April,” F1‘s statement read. “While several alternatives were considered, it was ultimately decided that no substitutions will be made in April.”
F1 was originally scheduled for April 12th in Bahrain and April 19th in Jeddah.
With both races removed, the 2026 Formula One calendar will now feature 22 races instead of the originally planned 24, leaving a five-week gap between the Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka and the Miami Grand Prix in early May.
