Floating Dubai Museum of Art Unveiled Over Dubai Creek
The five-storey museum will rise directly above Dubai Creek, designed by Japanese architect Tadao Ando.
Floating above Dubai Creek like a piece of modern sculpture, the planned Dubai Museum of Art (DUMA) has been unveiled as a new cultural landmark-in-the-making for the city’s waterfront. Designed by Japanese architect Tadao Ando, the five-storey structure is set directly over the water in Dubai Festival City.
Developed by Al Futtaim Group, the museum is being positioned as a large-scale contemporary art institution with flexible gallery halls, an event space, and a VIP lounge. Early visuals show Ando’s signature language of smooth concrete, light, and clean geometry, using calm, minimal surfaces to create a sense of stillness against the water.
Inside, the design allocates multiple adaptable floors for exhibitions, in addition to terraces and a planned waterfront restaurant, signalling that the project is meant to function as both an arts institution and a lifestyle destination.
