Film Critic Andrew Mohsen Appointed El Gouna Film Festival’s Artistic
His appointment follows producer and filmmaker Marianne Khoury, who served in the same role for the past three editions.
El Gouna Film Festival (GFF) has appointed Andrew Mohsen as its new Artistic Director, effective immediately, as the festival gears up for its 9th edition from October 15th to 23rd, 2026.
A longtime festival programmer and respected film critic, Mohsen has been part of GFF’s team since 2023, rising from Senior Programmer to Head of Programming. “I have followed El Gouna Film Festival’s journey since its inception, first as a critic and then as a professional within the industry,” Mohsen said in a statement, “Today, I am honored to take on the role of Artistic Director at such a pivotal stage… ensuring GFF remains the preeminent bridge between Arab and international cinema.”
Mohsen’s career spans multiple key regional festivals, including Cairo International, Ismailia, and Aswan International Women Film Festival, alongside curating roles for the European Film Festival in Riyadh and consulting for the Hollywood Arab Film Festival. His appointment follows producer and filmmaker Marianne Khoury, who served in the same role for the past three editions.
