Egypt Will Host African Business Summit 2026

The African Business Summit is set to take place in Egypt in 2026, with the stated objective of enhancing coordination between governments, the private sector and African financial institutions.

The announcement was made during the 43rd session of the Steering Committee of the African Union Development Agency, chaired via videoconference by President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi.

The session brought together African heads of state, member country representatives, and leaders of the African Union Commission, the African Development Bank and the African Export-Import Bank.

The summit is positioned as a platform to reinforce continental alignment on business and finance, while advancing cooperation across public and private stakeholders.

During the session, El-Sisi reviewed priorities and outcomes from Egypt’s chairmanship of the committee since February 2023, including efforts to translate continental strategies into regional and national programmes, mobilise financing for African projects, and expand initiatives targeting women and youth in innovation, the digital economy and manufacturing.

Among the initiatives highlighted was the Team Africa programme, which aims to mobilise USD 500 billion in financing for approximately 300 priority development projects.

Steps have also been taken toward establishing a dedicated development fund for the agency to address financing gaps, alongside expanding the agency’s presence across member states to better align national development plans with Agenda 2063.
