The Nile Parade: Hundreds Gather on Qursaya’s Riverbanks to Celebrate

With zaghareet ringing out and a metres-long queue stretching along the shore, the Nile Parade returns for its third edition. The project, led by documentary photographer Roger Anis in collaboration with VeryNile and the residents of Qursaya Island, transforms the village into a living festival for Nile Day.

On February 14th, Qursaya becomes an open public stage. Musicians, artists, photographers, fishermen and residents gather along the riverbanks, each celebrating the Nile through their own medium, sound, image and movement. And at the centre of it all is the Nile itself, both subject and storyteller. Its waters carry boats turned into floating installations, and Arooset Al Nile herself drifts through the scene.
