Dubai RTA Launches AI Traffic Signals System to Reduce City Congestion

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has launched an advanced AI-powered traffic signal system as part of its broader plan to enhance urban mobility and reduce congestion across the emirate.

The system uses real-time data and artificial intelligence to analyse traffic flow and automatically adjust signal timings at intersections. Currently implemented at 10 key locations, the system will be gradually expanded citywide.

According to RTA officials, this technology has already shown a 24% improvement in travel times and a 9% boost in traffic efficiency. The new system is part of Dubai’s broader strategy to become a global leader in smart city innovation.
