Dubai Police Roll Out AI System to Instantly Detect Traffic Violations
The new platform identifies drivers not wearing seatbelts, using mobile phones while driving, tailgating, stopping without reason, or obstructing traffic.

An artificial intelligence–powered traffic monitoring system has been introduced to automatically identify and record five key driving violations using real-time video analysis. Presented during GITEX Global 2025, the system represents a major step in applying AI to road safety and automated law enforcement.
The new platform identifies drivers not wearing seatbelts, using mobile phones while driving, tailgating, stopping without reason, or obstructing traffic. By analysing live footage from road cameras, it can flag violations instantly and transmit data directly to the central monitoring unit for review and action.
The system is designed to reduce the need for manual enforcement by redirecting field officers toward more strategic duties. The AI engine continuously tracks vehicle movement, recording violations while generating hourly, daily, and yearly traffic analytics to support safety planning and infrastructure development.
