Tuwaiq Sculpture Symposium Opens 2027 Artist Applications

Applications are now open for the eighth Tuwaiq Sculpture Symposium in Riyadh, with artists from Saudi Arabia and around the world invited to apply until November 8th, 2026.

Twenty artists will be selected to produce new sculptural works in Riyadh in early 2027. Applicants must have at least three years of professional experience in sculpture, including exhibiting work and carrying out public art commissions.

The 2027 edition is being overseen by Riyadh Art, a project of the Royal Commission for Riyadh City. Its curatorial team includes Aldo Rinaldi, Auronda Scalera and Saudi artist and academic Dr Soha Al-Zaid, who will shape the artistic direction and select participating artists.

This year’s theme examines the relationship between land, memory and culture, looking at how these layers shape a place and change over time. Selected artists will be able to work with granite, metals, decorative breeze blocks, mosaics and cement.

Stone-based projects will also have access to Saudi-sourced materials in Royal Gold, Green and Royal Pink, alongside black basalt.

Applications can be submitted through the Riyadh Art website and the symposium’s dedicated page.
