Thuluth Calligraphy Course to Run in Riyadh This August
The five-day course will introduce participants to Thuluth script through lessons on its history, tools and writing techniques.
A five-day training course dedicated to Thuluth calligraphy will take place in Riyadh from August 23rd to 27th, offering participants practical instruction in one of the most prominent forms of Arabic calligraphy.
The programme is being organised by the Culture House in Riyadh in cooperation with the Prince Mohammed bin Salman Global Center for Arabic Calligraphy. It is designed to introduce participants to the foundations and rules of Thuluth while developing their practical writing skills.
Lessons will cover the history and development of Arabic calligraphy before moving into the defining characteristics of Thuluth, including its structure, proportions and common applications.
Participants will also learn about the tools used by calligraphers, preparation of the inkwell and methods for establishing consistent letter proportions. Practical exercises will progress from individual letters to words and eventually complete calligraphic compositions.
