El Gouna Photo Week Opens Call for ‘The Shipmakers’ Exhibition
Selected projects will be exhibited as part of El Gouna Photo Week, taking place from December 4th to December 12th, 2026.
Photopia is inviting photographers to turn their lenses towards Egypt’s shipbuilding communities for the ‘Shipmakers Exhibition’, set to take place during El Gouna Photo Week.
The exhibition will focus on the people behind the craft, from those working on small fishing boats to teams involved in building much larger commercial vessels. Rather than simply photographing the boats themselves, participants are being asked to document the workers, their roles and the stories behind the vessels they help create.
Each submission should consist of four photographs forming a visual story, accompanied by information about the people pictured, including their names, backgrounds and part in the boat-building process, as well as a short note about the vessel itself.
Selected projects will be shown as part of the ‘Shipmakers Exhibition’ during El Gouna Photo Week, which runs from December 4th to 12th, 2026. The wider festival, organised by Photopia in partnership with Orascom Hotels Management and El Gouna Hotels, brings together photographers, filmmakers and other visual storytellers for exhibitions, workshops and industry sessions.
Submissions can be made through the link in Photopia’s Instagram bio.
