Photo of the Week: Abeer Ahmad

Saudi photographer and creative director Abeer Ahmad works across fashion, beauty and visual storytelling, building a body of work that looks past the final image to the process and people behind it.

For this edition of Photo of the Week, Ahmad selected a photograph captured during Riyadh Fashion Week 2025 while working with Atelier Hikayat. "Beyond the final photograph, what makes it meaningful to me is everything that happens behind the scenes," she says. "I've witnessed how much dedication, craftsmanship and collaboration Saudi designers and their teams invest in bringing a collection to life."

Reflecting on the growth of the industry, she adds that Riyadh Fashion Week "has become more than a runway - it's a platform that's reshaping the future of fashion in Saudi Arabia," noting that documenting that journey from behind the camera "has been incredibly rewarding."

"I chose this image because it represents a moment in Saudi fashion that feels both current and transformative," Ahmad explains. "It reflects the energy, confidence, and creative vision that define the industry today." She adds that as a photographer, she's drawn to capturing "not only beautiful fashion but also the people, stories, and cultural shifts behind it" - a reminder, she says, of "why I love photographing fashion at a time when Saudi creativity is gaining global recognition."
