This Saudi Label Only Makes Clothes for Sun & Snow

The Riyadh label Hajruss splits the year into sun and snow, and builds everything it sells around the two, from wolf fur jackets to linen and swimwear.

This Saudi Label Only Makes Clothes for Sun & Snow

Saudi Arabia is known for plenty of things. Fashion rooted in heritage, a taste for modest luxury, a designer scene expanding by the month. Snow is not one of them.

So when the Riyadh label Hajruss stakes its claim on a line of Sun and Snow products, the obvious question follows.

"Sun and snow are basically the two seasons that matter to us," says Saud Alsaleh, one third of the trio behind the brand. "It's how your closet should be divided if you live in Riyadh, where it's either very hot or very cold."

Hajruss means baby wolf, which tells you which side of that divide came first.

Before launching in 2019, Alsaleh and his two cofounders, brothers Abdullah and Faisal Aljabr, studied the market to work out what was there and what wasn't.

"There weren't many local brands doing modern fur wear or vests," Alsaleh explains, "so we decided to make vests that you could wear on a casual Saudi thobe or in a more modern way on the streets of London or Paris, for example."Wolf and Wool, the collection they launched at Riyadh Fashion Week 2025, is a good example. The standout piece was their Elden's Natural Fur Jacket, made entirely of wool with a plush collar of real wolf fur.

Practicality isn't always the point.

Hajruss are regulars at Riyadh Fashion Week, have shown once at Dubai Fashion Week and twice in Paris, and at one of those shows they sent an all-fur suit down the runway.

"It was a bold statement," Alsaleh says, "but it's an experience where we can show the best of the best from our fashion house, and show to the external world what Saudi fashion means. It's the statement pieces that the audience remembers."

That nonchalance runs through everything they do, the kind that walks into a room and makes everyone else feel slightly out of place.

"We did a fashion show in a supermarket, as well as a campaign in a laundry facility," Alsaleh says. "Hajruss is a brand that isn't afraid of being ironic. Fashion needs to be fun."

Moving from a label built on fur and wool to one that also sells linen and swim shorts was part ideological and part logistical.

"If you have a yearlong contract at a store, you can't spend nine months not selling because all your clothes are winter clothes."

T-shirts and hoodies would have been the easy answer. Alsaleh and his cofounders went for the opposite of snow instead, and started making swimwear.

It widened the range, and it brought in a customer they hadn't planned for.

"We categorise ourselves as a men's ready-to-wear brand, but a lot of the customers who walk into our stores are actually women clients," Alsaleh says. "They really like the linens. We use very natural pastel colours, and the cuts look neither very masculine nor very feminine."

Hajruss sells across Saudi Arabia and has run pop-ups in Paris, Mexico City and Kyoto. Alsaleh describes their customer as someone who follows fashion without wanting to look too funky.

The label works on fabric, texture and cut rather than decoration, with the exception of the swimwear, which runs to quirky illustrations. If they resemble anyone, he says, it's Massimo Dutti. Elegant, smooth, simple, with a high-end finish.

Their latest summer collection, Solmare, dropped in July 2026. Across linen trousers, cotton shirts and swim shorts, it answers the question at the heart of the brand.

Hajruss makes sun and snow products because its customers winter in the Swiss Alps and summer on the French Riviera.

Alsaleh sums up the campaign in three words: yachts, old money, carelessness. The video makes the case better than the words do.

"It's about a careless guy who just wants to live the best of his summer on his yacht," he says.

"All he cares about is drinking lemonade, laying around, and enjoying the sea."
