OCEANMAN El Gouna Brings Six Open-Water Races to the Red Sea
The Red Sea is getting ready for another weekend of open-water racing as OCEANMAN El Gouna returns from September 18th to 19th.
Open-water swimming returns to the Red Sea on September 18th and 19th, with OCEANMAN El Gouna bringing two days of racing to El Gouna Sailing Club.
Organised by Stamina Sports and Fitness, the event will feature six race formats spanning children’s events, shorter recreational distances, team competition and long-distance open-water racing.
Here’s what you need to know before the races begin...
The Races
500m Oceankids
A short-distance race for younger swimmers.
2km Sprint
A shorter open-water race for swimmers looking for a faster, more accessible distance.
2km Oceanfins
A second 2km format within the OCEANMAN programme.
3 × 500m Team Relay
Three swimmers combine for a 1.5km relay, with each completing one 500m leg.
5km Half Oceanman
A mid-distance race for swimmers ready to take on a longer open-water challenge.
10km Oceanman
The weekend’s longest and most demanding individual race.
The Schedule
September 18th
The opening day focuses on the shorter-distance races, including Oceankids, the 2km formats and the 3 × 500m team relay.
September 19th
The second day is reserved for the 5km Half Oceanman and 10km Oceanman, followed by the awards ceremony.
The World Championship Route
OCEANMAN El Gouna also serves as a qualification pathway to the series’ World Championship races, giving competitive swimmers the opportunity to progress beyond the Egyptian leg.
