Egypt's FA Confirms CAF Approval of Four New Stadiums
The move marks a step forward in sports infrastructure and boosting the country’s readiness to host continental and international competitions.
The Egyptian Football Association has announced that CAF, African football’s governing body, has added a new group of Egyptian stadiums to its approved list, bringing the total to 10. It’s part of an ongoing push to upgrade infrastructure and widen Egypt’s footprint as a host for continental football.
In an official statement, the EFA said the approvals come as a result of meeting CAF’s requirements, opening the door for more venues to stage African competitions across different levels.
New stadiums added
The latest update sees several venues enter the official classification including:
Alexandria Stadium (Category Three)
Borg El Arab Stadium (Category Three)
Right to Dream Academy Stadium (Category Two)
30 June Stadium – Pitch 1 (Category One)
What do the categories mean?
CAF’s classification system ranks stadiums by readiness, with Category Three at the top. These venues can host everything—from national team fixtures to major continental club matches. Categories One and Two are more limited, typically hosting women’s games, youth competitions, and select international fixtures within those brackets.
Still building forward
Back in December, the Egyptian FA had already confirmed six stadiums under the same system: Cairo International Stadium, 30 June Stadium, Al Salam Stadium, Suez Stadium, Suez Canal Authority Stadium in Ismailia, and Borg El Arab Stadium in Alexandria.
