8 Sports Bars Across MENA Made for Match Day

There’s watching a game, and then there’s watching a game. The latter involves a room full of strangers collectively losing their minds over a last-minute goal, someone ordering another round before half-time and every screen in sight being locked onto the same thing. Across the MENA region, sports bars have become their own kind of match-day institution, bringing together football fanatics, rugby obsessives, cricket devotees and anyone simply looking for an excuse to get loud with friends.

These are eight places where the game is very much the main event.

Seven Sports Bar — Dubai, UAE

Set on Palm Jumeirah, Seven Sports Bar does exactly what its name promises: sports, screens and plenty of room to settle in for the long haul. Open daily until 2 AM, it’s a solid shout when you want the big match with a proper sports-bar atmosphere rather than a TV quietly playing in the corner.

Coterie Social — Dubai, UAE

At Coterie Social, the sports-bar formula gets a slicker Dubai makeover. The Ibn Battuta venue describes itself as a meeting point for food lovers and sports fans, with Dubai’s largest indoor sports screen turning match days into full-blown social occasions. It’s the kind of place where “just one game” can very easily become the entire evening.

Champions Sports Bar — Doha, Qatar

If your definition of a sports bar involves an almost comical number of screens, Champions has you covered. The Doha institution boasts 47 LED screens and two giant projectors, alongside American pub classics, meaning there’s very little chance of missing the action — even if three matches are happening at once.

The Sportsman’s Arms — Abu Dhabi, UAE

Located on the grounds of Zayed Sports City, The Sportsman’s Arms leans into its surroundings with live sports, two outdoor terraces and a decidedly laid-back gastropub feel. It’s also unusually family-friendly for a sports bar, so you can bring the whole crew along without sacrificing the game-day atmosphere.

The Tap East — Cairo, Egypt

Cairo’s answer to the sports-bar institution, The Tap has been doing the American-style entertainment-and-sports-bar thing since 2014. The East branch pairs the usual match-night essentials with comfort food, music and a crowd that knows how to make an evening out of a game.

McGettigan’s — Manama, Bahrain

McGettigan’s Bahrain is built for the full match-night ritual: multiple HD screens, pub grub, pints and a crowd that gets properly invested once the whistle blows. The venue runs dedicated weekly sports programming and stays open until 2am every day, making it especially handy for those late-night fixtures.

The Corner’s Pub — Amman, Jordan

Tucked inside Al Sabeel Hotel, The Corner’s Pub brings a more classic pub feel to Amman’s sports scene. It’s open daily until 1am, making it a relaxed option for settling in with a drink, some food and whatever match happens to be on that night.

Bridgewater Tavern — Dubai, UAE

Over in Business Bay, Bridgewater Tavern gives the sports-bar concept a slightly more polished edge without losing the essential ingredients: big screens, late nights and a crowd there to actually watch something. Open daily until 2 AM, it’s an easy pick for turning a big fixture into a full Dubai night out.
