Hisham Zahran Marks 17 Years of His End-of-Year Mix Tradition

Since 2008, Egyptian veteran DJ and producer Hisham Zahran has closed out each year with an annual mix, sharing his all-time favourite tracks, a tradition that quickly garnered him a cult following on SoundCloud across the region.

For his 17th end-of-year mix, Zahran signs off 2025 with a four-hour house journey spanning timeless classics from across decades and continents. Clocking in as his longest mix yet, it features funky and jazzy classics from the ’90s and ’00s that have left a lasting mark on him.

One of Egypt’s most renowned and well-travelled dance music figures, Zahran is celebrated for his innovative, impeccably curated house and minimal sound. Since 2006, he has performed across Europe, Asia, and the Americas, with residencies at Cairo’s Nacelle and New York’s Bespoke Music. As a producer, his work has appeared on respected international labels including Mood Music, Audio Tonic, and Brown Eyed Boy.

“These mixes were always a good way for me to reflect musically on the year. During the past years, my approach has changed a bit, and the mixes have become a bit more personal.” Zahran tells SceneNoise. “The key criteria for tracks that end up in the mix are ones that I think would be more timeless for years to come, as opposed to my earlier mixes, where I would just play music released exclusively during the year.”
