Fairplay & Roo Drop Breezy Arabic Afro-House Cut ‘Al Jaw’

Jordanian electronic duo Fairplay have teamed up with fellow Jordanian producer and DJ Roo for ‘Al Jaw’, a new single that brings Arabic vocal heritage into the contemporary club landscape. Marking the artists’ debut on Pete Tong’s Places & Spaces label, the track draws from the sounds they grew up with in Jordan while keeping its focus firmly on the dancefloor, offering a snapshot of Amman’s evolving electronic scene.

Built around an Arabic vocal, ‘Al Jaw’ moves through a hypnotic, driving Afro-house groove, layered with crisp shakers, a rich kick drum and atmospheric synth pads. The track has already found a life beyond the studio, with Fairplay and Roo testing it across shows in Amman and while supporting Keinemusik in Athens. Pete Tong first played the track in Ibiza during IMS in April 2026, opening his set with it at Dalt Vila before returning to it later that week at Blue Marlin. It also received early support from Black Coffee, Themba and ULU’s Robin M.

That trajectory makes its release on Places & Spaces a fitting next step. Pete Tong describes the label as a personal project centred around the records closest to his club sets, with a focus on timeless electronic music and dancefloor-driven curation.

For Fairplay and Roo, the release follows years of involvement in Amman’s electronic music community. Fairplay are co-founders of Vudu Amman, a record label and events series focused on the country’s underground scene, while Roo is also a co-founder of Vudu and the founder of URoof Lounge. Roo’s releases have appeared on labels including Magnifik Music, When We Dip, XYZ and Zatar Music, with his 2025 track ‘Yangu’ reaching number one on Beatport’s Afro House Releases chart.

‘Al Jaw’ brings these two sides of their work together: music shaped by the sounds and setting of Amman, made for the club and now released through an international label. The track places a distinctly Jordanian thread within a wider electronic context, carrying a piece of Amman’s contemporary sound beyond its home scene.
