‘Your Farm in Egypt’ Draws 4,500 Expat Applications in Three Days
The first phase offers 7,600 feddans of agricultural land to Egyptians abroad, with contracts being finalised for 147 beneficiaries.
Around 4,500 applications were submitted by Egyptians abroad within three days for agricultural land offered under the first phase of the ‘Your Farm in Egypt’ initiative. The first phase covers 7,600 feddans, with contracts currently being finalised for 147 beneficiaries.
The initiative offers Egyptians living abroad opportunities to invest in agricultural land connected to national development projects, particularly the 1.5 million Feddan Project. Additional land is currently being serviced and prepared for allocation under a second phase.
An integrated digital platform is also being developed to handle the process online. Applicants will be able to browse available land and investment opportunities, review tender documents, submit reservation requests, track contracting procedures, make payments and send enquiries through the platform.
Launched in 2015, the 1.5 million Feddan Project is intended to expand agricultural land beyond the Nile Valley and Delta, reduce the food gap and establish new communities in desert areas. Much of the land allocated under the wider project depends on groundwater for irrigation.
‘Your Farm in Egypt’ forms part of a broader package of services and investment opportunities targeting Egyptians abroad across sectors including housing, banking, education, healthcare and insurance. Expatriate affairs were incorporated into the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2024 as part of efforts to consolidate services for overseas Egyptian communities.
Remittances from Egyptians abroad reached USD 43.1 billion during the first 11 months of FY2025/2026, providing additional context for government efforts to encourage expatriate investment and foreign-currency inflows.
