UAE President Shares Throwback In Honor of World Teacher's Day
President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed shared a 1971 photo once given to his teacher, while Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid also issued a message of thanks.
UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan marked World Teachers’ Day by sharing a personal memento from his school years: a 1971 photograph of himself that he had given to his teacher, Ahmed Ibrahim Mandi, with the words “to remember me, thank you” written on the back.
The President used the occasion to thank teachers across the UAE for their role in shaping future generations and encouraged people to recognise the educators who had influenced their own lives.
Vice President Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum also issued a message honouring teachers, saying they help people learn “how to think, how to decide, and how to live.” He also shared an excerpt from his new book, The Letters, describing teachers as the “engineers of minds” and reflecting on the lasting influence educators can have throughout a person’s life.
World Teachers’ Day is observed on October 5th, with schools, institutions and businesses across the UAE marking the occasion in different ways. Chipotle Middle East is among the companies running a promotion for educators, offering a buy-one, get-one-free entrée to teachers who present a valid school or university staff ID until October 9th. The chain is also running a social media contest inviting students to nominate teachers, with prizes for both the selected educator and student.
