UAE Lottery Launches 'Cool Bus Shelter' for Outdoor Workers
Air-conditioned buses were stationed near labour sites during the UAE’s mandatory midday break.
The UAE Lottery, the country’s federally regulated lottery operator, partnered with SmartLife Foundation, a community organisation supporting blue-collar workers, to provide outdoor workers with air-conditioned rest areas during the summer heat.
Through the Cool Bus Shelter initiative, cooled buses were stationed near labour sites during the UAE’s mandatory midday break, allowing workers to rest before returning to outdoor duties.
Volunteers from both organisations welcomed workers into the buses and distributed cold towels, water and refreshing drinks. Workers also received portable rechargeable neck fans to provide additional airflow after the break while working outdoors.
The initiative was held during peak summer temperatures and aligned with the UAE’s midday break policy, which requires outdoor work to pause during the hottest part of the day.
The UAE Lottery said the initiative forms part of its H.O.P.E. programme, which supports projects focused on health and wellbeing, opportunity and environmental protection in partnership with organisations across the country.
The UAE Lottery is operated by The Game LLC, part of Abu Dhabi-based Momentum Group, and regulated by the General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority. The company was appointed as the lottery’s licensed operator in July 2024.
